3. What Legal Bases Do We Rely On? (EU/UK Users)

If you are located in the EU or UK, we process your personal information only when we have a valid legal basis to do so: with your consent; to perform our contract with you (providing the Services); for our legitimate interests (such as fraud prevention, security, and analytics); or to comply with our legal obligations. International data transfers are made under appropriate safeguards, including the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

4. When and With Whom Do We Share Your Personal Information?

We share information with third-party vendors and service providers that perform services for us. We encourage you to review each provider's privacy notice:

We may also share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business.

5. Artificial Intelligence

Open Verdict offers AI-based features, including conversational AI (natural language processing and text analysis used to generate in-character suspect and non-player-character responses). We use the following AI platforms: Anthropic and ElevenLabs. When you submit free-text questions to in-game characters on paid cases, that text is transmitted to our AI provider to generate a response. AI-generated content is fictional and provided for entertainment only.

6. Do We Use Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies?

Our mobile app does not use cookies. Our advertising partner, Google AdMob, uses your device's advertising identifier to deliver and measure advertising. On iOS, personalized advertising is shown only if you grant permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt; you can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy → Tracking. On Android, you can reset or limit ad personalization in Settings → Privacy → Ads. Our website may use cookies for consent management. We do not use Google Analytics or other third-party analytics SDKs; our gameplay analytics are first-party and stored only in our own database.

7. How Do We Handle Your Social Logins?

The Services let you register and sign in using your Apple or Google account. When you do, we receive certain profile information — typically your email address (which may be an Apple private relay address) and a provider-specific identifier. We use this information only to create and manage your account.

8. Is Your Information Transferred Internationally?

Our servers are located in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. Where required, such transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards, including the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

9. How Long Do We Keep Your Information?

We keep your personal information for as long as your account remains active. When you delete your account, we permanently delete your account and all associated data (gameplay history, purchase records, usage quotas, and analytics events).

10. How Do We Keep Your Information Safe?

We have implemented appropriate organizational and technical security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process, including hashed passwords, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and server-side authorization controls. However, no electronic transmission over the internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.

11. Do We Collect Information From Minors?

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App uses an age gate to confirm users are at least 13 years of age. If we learn that personal information from a user under 13 has been collected, we will deactivate the account and take reasonable measures to promptly delete such data. If you become aware of any data we may have collected from a child under 13, please contact us at [email protected].

12. What Are Your Privacy Rights?

Depending on your location, you may have the right to: request access to and obtain a copy of your personal information; request correction or deletion; restrict or object to processing; and, where processing is based on consent, withdraw your consent at any time. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time directly from the App's profile settings, or by contacting us. To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected] or write to us at the address below. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (generally within 30 days). We may need to verify your identity by matching information you provide against our records.

13. Controls for Do-Not-Track Features

Most web browsers include a Do-Not-Track ("DNT") feature. No uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals.

14. United States State Privacy Rights

If you are a resident of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, or other US states with comprehensive privacy laws, you may have additional rights, including the right to know, access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information and of targeted advertising.

In the preceding twelve months, we have collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers (such as email address and device identifiers); commercial information (purchase history); internet or other electronic network activity (usage data); geolocation data (coarse, IP-derived); and inferences (gameplay career statistics).

We do not "sell" personal information for monetary consideration. However, our use of the device advertising identifier with Google AdMob to deliver personalized advertising may be considered "sharing" or a "sale" under certain state laws. You can opt out of this at the device level using the controls described in Section 6. We do not offer financial incentives in exchange for personal information.

To exercise your rights, including the right to appeal a decision, contact us at [email protected] or by mail at the address below.
